What are Game Logos?

A game logo is a graphic design or emblem that represents a video game, board game, or tabletop game. It is typically used on the game’s packaging, promotional materials, and website, as well as on the title screen and menu of the game itself. They can take many different forms, ranging from simple text-based designs to intricate and detailed graphics.

When Done Right

One of the most iconic game logos of all time is the Super Mario Bros. logo, which features a simple, stylized “M” encircled by a red ring. This logo has become synonymous with the Mario franchise and is instantly recognizable to millions of people around the world. Other examples of well-known logos include the golden “O” of the Sonic the Hedgehog series, the angular “T” of the Tomb Raider games, and the blocky, pixelated “P” of the Pac-Man series.

Game logos are often designed to be eye-catching and memorable, as they are intended to attract the attention of potential players and stand out on store shelves. As such, they often feature bright, bold colors and simple, easily recognizable shapes and symbols. Some logos are also designed to be humorous or playful, such as the comical “D” of the Donkey Kong series or the cartoonish “P” of the Plants vs. Zombies games.

In addition to being used on physical media and in-game menus, game logos are often used on social media and other online platforms to promote the game. They may also be used on merchandise such as t-shirts, hats, and other items.

Community Logos

While many game logos are created by professional graphic designers, some are created by fans or community members. These fan-made logos may be used as alternative designs or for unofficial purposes, such as on fan websites or forums.
