Overwatch 2 won’t remove Tracer despite damage bug because she kinda sucks without it

Tracer Bug

Tracer mains can breathe a sigh of relief as Blizzard has confirmed that despite a recently discovered bug affecting the damage hero in Overwatch 2, she won’t be temporarily removed from the game.

The bug involves Tracer having zero fall-off damage under 20 meters, meaning she can deal maximum damage within a considerable range. While this bug has been noticed by pro players shortly after Overwatch 2’s launch, it has only recently come to light among the wider player base.

Game director Aaron Keller acknowledged the bug’s existence, stating that it has seemingly been present in the game for the last few builds. However, he mentioned that despite the bug, Tracer’s overall power level has been deemed acceptable. Blizzard does not plan to disable Tracer, and when the bug is fixed, they will also look into making additional changes to her kit to compensate for the fix.

Huge bug! Tracer has no fall off under 20 meters. She’s probably going to get disabled, but until then she’s awful to play against.

This situation contrasts with the fate of other damage heroes like Mei, Torbjorn, and Bastion, who were temporarily removed from the roster early after launch due to various issues. Mei, for example, was out of play for almost three weeks due to a critical issue delaying her return.

While Tracer has been considered a solid A or B tier hero by most standards, Blizzard believes that correcting the damage drop-off bug will significantly impact her viability. Thus, for the time being, the bug is inadvertently contributing to game balancing, although opinions within the community are divided on whether Tracer is currently a problem.
