HoYoverse has made an announcement regarding Genshin Impact’s upcoming Version 3.6 update, revealing that a new voice actor has been chosen for the character Tighnari.
In a blog post released on Sunday night, the Chinese game developer disclosed that Tighnari’s English voice actor will be replaced in the upcoming patch.
While HoYoverse has not officially confirmed the new voice actor, fans have been speculating that Zachary Gordon will be taking on the role. This speculation stems from leaked audio shared on Twitter, with Gordon known for his roles as Greg Heffley in the Diary of a Wimpy Kid films and as the voice of Hayner in Kingdom Hearts 3.
However, the developer has not yet verified whether Gordon is indeed the new voice actor for the Dendro character.
The decision to recast Tighnari’s voice actor follows the firing of the original English voice actor, Elliot Gindi, two months ago. Gindi was terminated due to a breach of contract following allegations of sexual abuse towards underage fans, as well as accusations of transphobic behavior and emotional abuse made by moderators of his Twitch and Discord servers.
At the time of Gindi’s termination, HoYoverse issued an apology for the harm caused to fans and pledged to work with the voice acting agency to address the situation. Gindi also released a statement apologizing for his actions, acknowledging the authenticity of text screenshots shared by his moderators but denying the allegations of sexual abuse.
